Bandsintown Unwanted Notifications: Reduce Email and Push Without Losing Useful Alerts
Reduce unwanted Bandsintown messages by checking email and app preferences separately, reviewing artist follows, and distinguishing browse filters from saved location.
- Identify one unwanted message and decide which alerts to keep. Email preferences, app notification preferences, Android display permission, artist follows, and Explore filters are separate controls.
- Change email categories and app notifications independently. An email's unsubscribe link removes that category, and email preference changes may take up to 48 hours to process—not 48 hours between deliveries.
- Review unwanted artist follows and distinguish temporary browsing locations from the saved main account location. A Followed Artists view does not turn off recommendations across every channel.
- Reopen the chosen settings and record later observations before escalating. Keep critical event checks with the organizer, and use an optional public-source brief only as a separate reading routine.
Choose What to Stop and What to Keep
To reduce unwanted Bandsintown notifications, first identify whether the interruption is an email, an app push, or simply an unwanted recommendation in Explore. Then change the control responsible for that layer while preserving the alerts you still want.
Choose one actual message. Note its channel, arrival date, category if identified, artist, and city. Decide whether your goal is fewer recommendations, no email from that category, a corrected location, or no phone push at all.
| What bothers you | Control to inspect first |
|---|---|
| An unwanted email category | Account email preferences or that email's footer controls |
| A phone notification | Bandsintown app notification preferences |
| All Bandsintown phone interruptions | Android app notification permission, if you want all push blocked |
| An artist you no longer follow intentionally | The exact artist's follow state |
| Unrelated Explore results | Browsing filters |
| Messages about the wrong city | Saved main location versus temporary browsing location |
Write a short target before changing anything: “Keep concert information for my chosen artists, remove this email category, and retain useful phone alerts.” This makes it easier to avoid a broad setting that removes wanted messages too.
These controls do not automatically update one another. Filtering a browsing view does not unsubscribe an email, and disabling Android notifications does not change your email preferences. A quieter screen also does not establish that your underlying artist list or saved city is correct.
Start with the smallest relevant change. You do not need to unfollow every artist or delete your account to investigate one unwanted message.
Change Email and App Notifications Separately
Bandsintown's email and app notification settings guide, updated June 30, 2026, documents the web route through My Account, then Notifications. Inspect the categories actually offered and toggle only the preferences you want to change.
The same guide distinguishes two email-footer actions. Unsubscribe removes the category associated with that message; Manage notifications opens the broader category choices. Preferences are recorded automatically, without a separate Save action.
Email preference changes may take up to 48 hours to process. That is a processing window for the change—not an email delivery interval, a concert-alert deadline, or a promise about app push. Record when you made the change so later messages can be assessed against it.
For app notification preferences, the guide documents Profile and settings leading to Notifications on iOS and Android. Email preferences have a separate Email Notifications entry. Use the labels available in your current interface rather than assuming the two settings pages are one combined control.
Changing app notification choices does not update email preferences, and changing email preferences does not update app notification choices. If you want the same reduction in both channels, inspect both deliberately.
Reopen the relevant preference page and confirm the chosen state. Keep a simple note of which category you changed, which channel it affects, and which choices remain enabled. Avoid assuming that one successful unsubscribe removed every Bandsintown message or that a saved preference proves how a later message will be delivered.
Review Artist Follows Without Mistaking Browse Filters for Alert Settings
If the problem centers on an artist you no longer want to track, check that artist's exact profile and current follow state. Similar names, solo projects, and group identities can make an unwanted item look like a recommendation when it concerns a profile you still follow.
The official artist-unfollowing guide, dated May 27, 2021, describes a Following toggle on the web artist page and artist-list controls on mobile. Its Android and iOS examples differ, so compare those instructions with the controls currently offered rather than assuming identical buttons.
Remove only the artist you no longer want and verify the resulting state. Keep the artists whose concert information still matters. Unfollowing is an artist-list decision, not a substitute for choosing which email or push categories you want.
For a cleaner browsing session, the Followed Artists viewing guide distinguishes Followed Artists from Recommended results. That is a list-view filter, not a global switch that suppresses recommendations in every message.
The Explore filtering guide also documents location, date, genre, and physical-concert versus livestream choices. Use those to narrow what you intentionally browse.
For example, selecting Followed Artists while checking a particular city answers “What do I want to see in this view?” It does not answer “Which email categories have I disabled?” Keep those two questions separate when judging whether the unwanted interruptions have changed.
Separate a Browsing City From Your Saved Main Location
Wrong-city messages need a location check, not necessarily a notification shutdown. Compare the city displayed while browsing with your saved main account location, and inspect the relevant mobile and web state.
There is an important difference between two dated help pages. The May 27, 2021 wrong-location FAQ describes mobile and web location mismatches and says web location cannot be changed. The more detailed May 3, 2022 location-changing guide explicitly documents web editing. Use the newer documented options rather than treating the older restriction as universal.
The newer guide describes a pencil control above Recommended For You on the web. After entering a location, you can choose to save it as the main account location. Choosing No makes it a browsing-only change that reverts in the next browser session. It also documents mobile location settings through Profile and settings.
Decide which operation you intend before confirming. Looking at a travel destination temporarily is different from replacing the city you want saved as your main location.
After changing the main location, reopen the relevant view and inspect the displayed value. Do not assume that every mobile and web view has synchronized merely because one screen looks correct, or that changing a city creates a multi-city alert service.
If a mismatch persists and the current interface does not resolve it, contact Bandsintown support with the intended city, the displayed city, the channel, and an example message. Redact unrelated account details. Preserve the difference between a saved-location problem and an unwanted email category.
Keep a Quieter Public Reading Routine If Useful
Reducing interruptions does not require abandoning useful information. You can keep an intentional Bandsintown browsing view and check an artist or organizer's original notice when an event matters. Follow Artists Without Social Media: Public Sources, Email, and Focused Checks offers ways to make that reading finite.
Our Artist updates plugin is an optional supplement when you want a bounded public-announcement brief, rather than another stream of provider alerts.
Editable request: Review public announcements published in the past 24 hours for [exact artists]. Return up to five distinct meaningful updates in total, prioritizing relevant performances and event changes. Include original issuer links, distinguish announcement publication dates from event dates and times, and retain stated locations and time zones. Combine repeated coverage and flag inaccessible sources or unresolved details.
The limit is a ceiling, not a quota, and source preferences are not an enforced allowlist. This does not replace Bandsintown's concert listings, import your follows, read private accounts, repair its delivery, or establish that every nearby event has been found.
The free plugin requires a compatible Agent and configured model; model calls may have separate costs. Our Features page documents Full direct APK plugin support with setup and permissions, while Play Lite cannot install APK plugins. Check the actual available entry.
Create manually or review an AI proposal, inspect supported time and repeat choices, then save or confirm; cancel an incorrect proposal. Verify actual task history and results. Local Android and network conditions can delay execution, so this is not an exact presale alarm.
Use Schedule Artist Updates on Android: Create, Confirm, and Check Your Task for setup, and edit or pause the same task when your needs change.
Verify the Changes and Investigate the Remaining Channel
Record one preference change and its time, then reopen the setting to confirm its state. For later messages, retain the category and arrival time, distinguishing new observations from older messages already in your inbox or potentially queued before the change. Allow the documented email-processing window without interpreting it as a schedule between emails.
| What remains unwanted | Next check |
|---|---|
| Email continues | Confirm category, account, change time, and processing status; contact support if unresolved |
| App push continues | Inspect app preferences separately from email and Android display controls |
| Explore still looks unrelated | Check the browsing filters, not the email unsubscribe state |
| Wrong artist appears | Verify the exact profile and follow state |
| Wrong city appears | Compare saved main location with browsing and mobile/web state |
| Optional public brief is absent | Inspect its actual execution history separately from Bandsintown settings |
If you want no Bandsintown system push at all, Google's Android notification guidance explains app controls and categories where offered. Device menus vary. Turning off the whole app's notifications blocks wanted push too and does not unsubscribe email, so use that broad choice only if it matches your intention.
For a known important event or ticket deadline, keep the responsible artist, organizer, or ticket issuer as your direct reference. Official Sources for Artist Updates: Who Can Confirm Each Claim? helps identify who can verify those details.
Finish with a clear retained-channel record: which emails remain wanted, which app alerts remain enabled, which artists you still follow, and which city is saved. Note the next unresolved action rather than assuming silence proves a permanent fix or changing unrelated settings again.
