Weibo Artist Notification Settings: Keep Wanted Alerts and Reduce Unwanted Push
Separate Weibo blogger subscriptions, Special Follow, Supertopic preferences, and Android alerts. Learn why blank settings do not always mean no push.
- Choose the correct public artist or studio identity, then distinguish ordinary following, blogger subscriptions, Special Follow, Supertopic subscriptions, and Android display permission.
- Manage blogger subscriptions and Special Follow independently. Cancelling one does not cancel the other, and an explicit no-push choice differs from leaving a preference unset.
- Treat Supertopic subscriptions separately from recommended navigation. An unchecked entry can still allow interest recommendations, while a no-push choice applies to that entry rather than every Weibo message.
- Verify saved preferences against one known post and an actual notification observation. Use an optional public-source brief only for separate reading, not private-feed access or Weibo push repair.
Choose the Artist and the Alert Layer You Mean
Start your Weibo artist notification settings with one or two correct public accounts and a clear purpose: release announcements, studio notices, or another specific activity you want to hear about. Then identify which mechanism controls the interruption. Following an account, subscribing to its updates, and allowing Android notifications are different choices.
Verify the artist or studio through an official website or another established official account that links to it. Do not rely on a matching display name alone. Official Sources for Artist Updates: Who Can Confirm Each Claim? helps distinguish the artist, studio, label, organizer, and broadcaster responsible for an announcement.
| Layer | Question to answer |
|---|---|
| Ordinary follow | Do I follow this exact account? |
| Blogger update subscription | Have I subscribed to push for this account or selected content types? |
| Special Follow | Is this separate mechanism enabled, and which mode applies? |
| Supertopic | Am I following a topic, subscribing to topic updates, or viewing recommendations? |
| Android notifications | Can the app display system notifications on this device? |
A blogger subscription can exist without an ordinary follow, so an unfamiliar push does not necessarily mean the account is in your followed list. Likewise, following an artist does not guarantee push for every post.
Choose one actual message to investigate. Record its account or topic, content type, arrival time, and whether it appeared inside Weibo or as a phone notification. The English descriptions here explain the documented controls; match them to the options actually available in your client rather than expecting identical menu wording.
Manage Blogger Subscriptions and Special Follow Separately
Weibo's September 27, 2024 blogger subscription help describes central management through My, Settings, Push notifications, and the blogger update subscription area. Inspect the accounts listed there even if you do not remember following them.
The documented subscription mechanism supports content-type choices. For your selected artist or studio, review the types actually offered and keep those that match your purpose. Do not turn on every option merely because you want one kind of announcement.
Special Follow is a separate mechanism, with its own real-time and intelligent settings. Keep a small record showing which mechanism you intentionally use for each account. This makes a later unwanted alert easier to investigate than a general note saying “artist notifications on.”
| Your chosen account | Blogger subscription | Special Follow | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| [Verified artist account] | [Selected content types or explicit no push] | [Current state and mode] | [The announcements you want] |
| [Verified studio account] | [Selected content types or explicit no push] | [Current state and mode] | [Official scheduling or release notices] |
This is your own settings inventory, not an account integration. Reopen the actual controls after changing them and check the selected state.
Interest and hot-topic category switches or frequency preferences are another question. They concern recommendation categories rather than simply who is followed. If your complaint is about those messages, inspect the relevant category instead of removing an artist you still want to read.
The aim is a small intentional configuration. It does not require enabling every artist mechanism or assuming that a quieter feed proves push settings have changed.
Keep Wanted Push or Choose No Push Explicitly
For unwanted artist push, check both the blogger subscription and Special Follow. Cancelling one does not cancel the other. If neither is active but recommendations continue, the blogger subscription help directs you to an explicit no-push choice in blogger push management. Leaving the entry unset is not the same instruction.
For a wanted Special Follow alert that did not arrive, use the September 28, 2025 Special Follow troubleshooting guidance. It describes system permission, real-time versus intelligent modes, and conditions affecting eligible posts.
- The documented coverage concerns original posts and first reposts with added content, not every interaction.
- The guide describes a 23:00–07:00 quiet window for Special Follow; do not apply that window to every Weibo notification.
- Network conditions can affect delivery.
- After changing the setting, return to the Special Follow homepage for it to take effect, as the guide instructs.
A real-time label does not prove exact arrival or complete delivery of all posts. Compare the selected mode with one known post and its observed outcome rather than treating the label as a guarantee.
For example, record that you selected a mode, returned to the Special Follow homepage, and later found an eligible post inside the app. Note separately whether a system notification appeared. That preserves the distinction between applying the preference, finding the content, and observing push.
If you only want to stop one artist's push, avoid switching off all Weibo notifications at the Android level. That broader action can block alerts you intended to retain.
Separate Supertopic Subscriptions From Recommended Navigation
Supertopic settings are not blogger post subscriptions. Weibo's April 15, 2024 Supertopic subscription guide describes topic content types and a central Supertopic Subscriptions list. Review the exact topic entry and the choices available for it.
The important distinction is between blank and explicit refusal. An unchecked or blank subscription entry can still allow interest-based recommendations. Selecting the explicit no-push option requests no push for that entry; it is not a promise to remove every Supertopic-related message elsewhere.
Keep the message type precise. The April 23, 2024 general Supertopic help described one type of celebrity-arrival message from an unfollowed topic as not closable at that time. That dated statement neither establishes that it remains unclosable today nor means the subscription switch controls every arrival or in-app message. Inspect the current client or ask support about the particular type you still receive.
Navigation is another layer. The June 25, 2026 Supertopic navigation guidance describes recommendations involving followed and frequently visited topics. The feed is not limited to topics you follow, and bottom-navigation availability or customization can vary.
Moving a navigation entry changes how you reach a view, not its push subscriptions. Likewise, seeing an unfamiliar topic in a feed does not prove that your no-push choice failed.
For an unresolved item, note whether it was a feed recommendation, an in-app message, or system push. That classification determines which setting or support question to pursue without changing unrelated controls.
Use a Finite Public Reading Routine If Helpful
If you want to open the feed less often, keep a small set of original public sources and a stopping point for each reading session. Follow Artists Without Social Media: Public Sources, Email, and Focused Checks offers complementary ways to build that routine.
Our Artist updates plugin can optionally help review public announcements without changing your Weibo settings.
Editable request: Review public announcements published in the past 24 hours for [exact artists and studios]. Prefer the artist, studio, label, organizer, or broadcaster responsible for each claim. Return up to five distinct meaningful updates in total, with original links. Separate publication dates from release or event dates, retain stated time zones, combine repeated coverage, and flag unknown details or inaccessible originals.
The item count is a ceiling, not a quota. Source preferences guide research rather than technically blocking other sources. This does not read private Weibo feeds, DMs, or member content, import follows, repair push, or establish a complete future calendar.
The free plugin requires a compatible Agent and configured model; model calls may have separate costs. Our Features page documents Full direct APK plugin support with setup and permissions, while Play Lite cannot install APK plugins. Check the actual available entry in your edition.
Create manually or review an AI proposal, inspect supported time and repeat choices, then save or confirm; cancel an incorrect proposal. Verify the saved task, actual history, and source-linked results. Local Android and network conditions can delay execution.
Use Schedule Artist Updates on Android: Create, Confirm, and Check Your Task for the full procedure. Edit or pause the same task when your reading needs change, keeping its execution separate from Weibo delivery.
Verify the Saved Choice and Diagnose What Remains
Finish with one small observation record: the exact artist or topic, mechanisms checked, desired content type or mode, any explicit no-push choice, and the time you changed it. Then record a known published post seen in the app and any Android notification separately.
| Remaining symptom | Next check |
|---|---|
| Artist push continues after one cancellation | Inspect both blogger subscription and Special Follow |
| Recommendations continue with neither mechanism active | Check the blogger entry's explicit no-push choice |
| Blank Supertopic entry still produces recommendations | Distinguish an unset preference from explicit no push for that entry |
| Wanted Special Follow push is absent | Review eligible post type, mode, quiet window, network, and return-to-homepage step |
| Unfamiliar topic appears in navigation or a feed | Investigate recommendations rather than assuming a push failure |
| Content exists but no Android alert appears | Inspect app permission and available notification categories |
| Optional public brief is absent | Inspect its actual task history separately from Weibo preferences |
Google's Android notification guidance explains app and category controls where offered. Device menus vary, and disabling all Weibo system notifications also blocks wanted push. It is not a fine-grained artist choice.
If the current interface differs from dated help or a message type remains unexplained, preserve the observation and ask official support about that specific gap. Do not assume an unknown provider condition is a proven device fault or disable global battery and security protections.
For a known release or ticket deadline, check the responsible owner's original notice directly. End with a few intentional settings and an explicit next action—not a promise that every desired alert will arrive or every recommendation has disappeared.
